How we compare operators

The grade is a summary of the eight columns above, with the mobile experience carrying the most weight because that's where the majority of play happens. A site with a stable app, sensible search and a live room that survives a patchy signal will outrank a bigger catalogue that's awkward to move around.

What each site is actually like

NetBet

Volume is the headline. NetBet's lobby runs into the thousands and the filter rail is the only reason it stays navigable — sort by studio and the difference between a Pragmatic Play shelf and a Hacksaw shelf becomes obvious quickly. The live room leans on Evolution, so blackjack and roulette come in the variants you'd expect plus the game-show formats, and Slingo sits in its own tab for anyone who wants something between bingo and slots. Two apps exist rather than one, and store reviews for the sports app are noticeably harsher than for the casino side; if the casino is what you're after, that distinction matters.

Lottoland

Read the terms and Lottoland tells you what it is: bets are placed with EU Lotto Limited on the outcome of official draws, not on tickets bought from the draw operator. That single fact shapes everything — the app opens on jackpots and draw timers, the casino games are reached through a secondary menu, and the live section is small next to the slot and scratchcard catalogue. It has held a Commission licence since November 2014, which for a lottery-betting brand is a long stretch of continuous UK regulation.

Lotto Mart

Lottomart is the quiet surprise of the six. Maple International Ventures has held UKGC account 51833 since July 2018, and rather than picking a lane it stacks slots, Evolution live tables, scratchcards and draw betting into one account with a lobby that doesn't feel overloaded. Both store apps support biometric sign-in. The trade-off is depth of the live room compared with the two A-grades, and a smaller studio roster than NetBet's.

10Bet

A sportsbook with a casino attached, and honest about it. The front page belongs to football and horse racing; slots and tables are one tab across, with several hundred titles rather than several thousand. Racing streams are the standout mobile feature — put a small bet on a UK or Irish race and it plays in the app alongside live odds. If you split your time between betting and slots, having both in one app is worth more than a bigger catalogue you'd have to switch to.

William Hill

The most complete mobile setup on this page, and also the one with the most complicated record. The Vegas app has search that actually works, a live floor split between Evolution and Playtech with tables branded for William Hill, and the Age of the Gods progressive network running underneath a chunk of the Playtech content. It's run by WHG (International) Limited under Commission account 39225, inside evoke plc. Worth knowing before you sign up: in March 2023 the William Hill group agreed a £19.2m regulatory settlement with the Commission over social responsibility and anti-money-laundering failures — the largest enforcement package the regulator had issued at that point. The operator has been under a UKGC licence throughout, and the settlement is public record rather than rumour.

FitzBet

New enough that a grade of C+ says "not proven" more than "not good". SBKI Limited's first Commission licence dates from October 2024, with casino permissions following in 2025, and the brand exists to give Fitzwilliam Sports — an independent Dublin bookmaker — a mass-market front door. EveryMatrix supplies the platform, which is why a brand this young has a catalogue comparable to sites a decade older. What's missing is track record: no store app, thin public feedback, and no history of how the operator handles disputes when they arise. Worth watching rather than betting the evening on.

  • Do I need the app, or will the mobile site do?

    For most people the mobile site is fine — every site here is built to run in Safari or Chrome, and you skip the storage and the update prompts. Apps earn their place when you play often: biometric sign-in, notifications you can switch off, and live tables that hold up better when your connection dips. FitzBet doesn't offer one, and that hasn't stopped people using it.

  • How do I check a site really is UK-licensed?

    Scroll to the footer of the operator's site and find the account number — every licensee has to publish it. Type that number into the Gambling Commission's public register and you'll see the company behind the brand, which activities it's licensed for and any regulatory action on record. If a site can't show you a number, that answers the question.

  • What does GamStop actually block?

    Registering with GamStop stops you opening or using accounts at every online operator licensed in Great Britain, for six months, one year or five years, and you can't shorten the period once it starts. It won't touch betting shops, overseas sites outside UK regulation, or your bank card — for those you'd add a gambling block through your bank and the retail schemes separately.

  • Why does an app sometimes show fewer games than the website?

    Store rules, licensing of individual titles and the way studios package their games for native apps all play a part, so the app lobby can be a subset of the browser one. Some live tables also open inside a browser view rather than natively. If a specific game matters to you, check for it on the mobile site before deciding the app is the better route.

  • Do the commercial links change the grades?

    No. The grade comes out of the eight criteria in the table above, and the order on this page follows the grades. We're paid when someone signs up through one of our links, which is why the disclosure sits at the top of the list rather than buried at the bottom — but a brand can't buy a higher grade, and a brand without a deal can still appear here.

  • Why is there nothing about deposits or withdrawals?
