About

A comparison site, and nothing more than that

UK Chip Trail reviews and compares casino brands licensed by the Gambling Commission. We don't run games, hold accounts, take bets or handle a penny of anyone's money — this is a place to read before you decide, not a place to play.

The whole job: open the site on a phone, work through the same checklist, write down what's actually there.

Why the site exists

There's no shortage of pages listing UK casino brands. Most of them rank by commission and pad the gaps with adjectives. The gap worth filling is a plainer one: which of these sites is pleasant to use on the device you'll actually open it on, and what's genuinely behind the brand name — who holds the licence, which studios supply the games, whether the live room is a real product or a token three tables.

So the remit here is narrow on purpose. Six brands, eight criteria, grades from A to D, and an explanation for every grade that you can check yourself.

Who writes it

A small editorial team based in the UK, with a background in reviewing consumer apps rather than in the gambling industry. Nobody here works for an operator, holds shares in one, or takes a payment to change a grade. We don't publish personal bylines because the assessments are collective and we'd rather you judged the method than the name at the top.

What we check, and what we won't

Every listed site is assessed on eight things: Commission licence, game range, live casino, mobile app, game studios, welcome offer type, customer support and overall usability. The mobile experience carries the heaviest weight, because it's where most play happens and it's where the differences between these brands are widest.

Three things stay off the site by choice:

  • Payments. Deposits, withdrawals, payout timings and methods are money-handling questions between you and the operator. They change often and we're not the right source for them.
  • Invented numbers. No user review counts, no fabricated satisfaction scores, no precise figures we can't stand behind. Where we don't know something, the table says so.
  • Urgency. No countdowns, no "last chance", no language that pushes anyone into signing up today rather than thinking about it.

How it's funded

Affiliate commission. When someone follows a link from here, opens an account and plays, the operator may pay us a share. That's the entire business model — no subscriptions, no paid placements, no sponsored write-ups dressed up as reviews. Commercial links are marked as ads, and the affiliate disclosure spells out exactly how the arrangement works.

The honest caveat: this model means we make nothing from telling you to close the tab and go for a walk. We've written the grades so that a reader who does exactly that has still got something useful out of the visit.

Corrections

Operators change their apps, add studios, drop live tables and rewrite their offers. If something on this site is out of date or plain wrong, tell us and it gets fixed — the contact page has the address. Corrections that change a grade are made openly rather than quietly.

The grade in one paragraph

An A means the site holds up across all eight criteria with a mobile experience we'd happily use ourselves. A B is solid with a clear weak spot — a thin live room, an app that lags behind the website. A C means it works but you're accepting a compromise, or the brand is too new for a track record. A D would mean we found something that made us uncomfortable recommending it at all; nothing on the current list carries one, and if it did, we'd say why rather than quietly drop it.

How the criteria are applied

Disclaimer. UK Chip Trail is an independent comparison site funded by affiliate commission. We are not a gambling operator, we are not connected to the Gambling Commission, and we are not owned by any brand listed here. Gambling is entertainment for adults, never a way to make money. 18+ only. Support and self-exclusion tools are listed on our responsible gambling page.
